Mission or Goal of Unit

The department’s mission is to produce well-rounded, ethical information systems graduates who creatively blend business acumen, technology skills, and knowledge to meet the needs of our constituents and are prepared for lifelong learning. We foster and sustain scholars who make distinctive contributions to the information systems discipline and advance value-based information systems contributions.

Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal

The School of Business looks to hire a non-tenure eligible teaching and research faculty member to support the teaching mission of the Information Systems Department.

Position Responsibilities

Preferred areas of teaching expertise include systems analysis and design, database systems, application web development, programming, and mobile technology. Experience teaching project/ capstone/ practicum courses. Other specialty areas related to information technology will be considered.
The applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in Information Systems at the undergraduate and master’s levels on campus (in Richmond, VA) and virtually.
Responsibilities include teaching four sections in both fall and spring semesters. This 4/4 teaching load can be changed based on the number of preps and the number of students in the sections and if there is special consideration given to the instructor based on departmental needs.
In addition to teaching, serving on department committees is required.
Research is not required.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have either a Bachelor’s Degree with significant information systems work experience (15 years) or a Masters or earned Doctorate in information systems or other related areas.
Excellent oral and written English language skills are required.
Applicants must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and students or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU .
Prior teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should have industry experience in the areas of teaching.
