Position Details

Wesleyan University’s arts departments invite applications for an Assistant Professor of the Practice position in Video, Audio, and Production beginning July 1, 2021.
The successful candidate will teach courses in sound and video documentation and production in full-semester and half-semester formats. In addition, the candidate will offer and/or supervise workshops in a wide range of software and sound and video techniques based on the needs of the arts departments. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute innovative courses in a secondary area relevant to the interdisciplinary needs of the arts departments, such as performing-arts videography and/or web/social media design.

The Assistant Professor of the Practice position has an annual load equivalent to five full-semester courses. This load will include a combination of teaching (classroom and tutorials), training student assistants, supervision of digital design facilities (the existing Digital Design Studio and future planned Digital Design Commons), and coordination with arts faculty on the media production needs of student projects. The position will be housed in and will officially report to the Dance department, though it will also support the departments of Theater, Music, and Art.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should have an MFA, or its equivalent.
