Assistant Teaching Professor/Lecturer of Statistics/Mathematics

The Division of Science and Engineering at Penn State University Abington College is seeking a non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor or Lecturer of Statistics or Mathematics to start in August of 2021. This is a 36-week appointment with excellent fringe benefits that include retirement plans, health, dental, vision, and prescription drug insurance, reduced tuition rates for dependents, and optional long-term disability insurance. The review process will begin March 1st and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum qualification is an MS degree in statistics or mathematics for a Lecturer. Additional education and experience will be required, including a Ph.D. to be appointed as an Assistant Teaching Professor. Preference will be given to those with prior teaching experience, both in person and online, and those with experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Teach 12 contact hours per semester covering a spectrum of undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses including calculus, matrices, differential equations, probability, discrete math and statistics
  • Act as an academic advisor to a variety of science and engineering majors
  • Provide service to the division and College
