The Department of Communications at the University of Southern Indiana announces a tenure-track assistant professor position in Public Relations and Advertising to teach courses in advertising and applied social media beginning August 2021.

 

The candidate must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in advertising, applied social media, and digital communications. Courses taught may include advertising copywriting, strategy, design, campaigns, as well as social media content, management, and analytics. When completing the application, applicants should include any professional experience in the advertising and/or public relations industry.

 

A PhD in advertising, public relations, or a similarly related communication field is required. Applicants with ABD status will be considered for the rank of Instructor until degree is completed.

 

The Assistant Professor will have the opportunity to foster partnerships with the other programs in the department and at the university, as well as other organizations, businesses, and community organizations. USI’s Department of Communications is a collegial, interdisciplinary department with a commitment towards teaching excellence and community engagement.

 

The University of Southern Indiana is in Evansville, Indiana’s third-largest city with an estimated metro population of 314,000. Located on the Ohio River, it is the commercial, medical and cultural hub of southwestern Indiana and the Illinois-Indiana-Kentucky tri-state area, and is within driving distance to Louisville, Kentucky, St. Louis, Missouri, Nashville, Tennessee, and Indianapolis, Indiana. Evansville is home to numerous museums, the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden, Tropicana Evansville casino, an emerging sports tourism industry and growing arts, culture and entertainment districts. Major employers can be found in financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution and retail.

 

The Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation is the third-largest school district in Indiana, with more than 23,000 PreK-12 students across 40 schools.
