The Conservatory of Music at Baldwin Wallace University seeks applicants for the Director of Music Therapy within a robust and collaborative program. The Conservatory seeks a motivated and collaborative individual who is committed to advancing the Music Therapy program and profession to students, professional partners, and the broader community. This individual will work in affiliation with the Cleveland Music Therapy Consortium (CMTC), serving as Director and communicating regularly with the CMTC board. The position is tenure-track with open rank. Duties begin on August 2, 2021.



  • Teach undergraduate music therapy courses
  • Create, maintain, and build external relationships
  • Supervise music therapy field work and internship students
  • Play an active role in the recruitment of music therapy majors
  • Collaborate with program staff and adjunct faculty colleagues
  • Provide positive leadership for professional colleagues, alumni, and students in all programs
  • Perform other institutional service typically required of a full-time faculty member

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current MT-BC board certification as a music therapist; Masters degree (MS, MA, or MM) in music therapy earned by July 1, 2021; Strong background in the clinical delivery and diversity of music therapy services; Minimum of 5 years of music therapy clinical practice and/or college teaching experience in music therapy; Minimum of 1 year of clinical supervisory experience with undergraduate students; Proven record of relationship-building and representing the profession to diverse audiences; Strong functional musicianship skills; Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduate music students; Commitment to practices that celebrate the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the institution through teaching, supervision, and community engagement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience directing an AMTA-approved or affiliate internship; Demonstrated experience teaching collegiate music therapy students; Demonstrated clinical experience in at least 3 different clinical environments; Experience in leading collaboration with professional partners; Recruiting and advising undergraduate students; Knowledge of contemporary delivery options for clinical services in Music Therapy; Curriculum development; Potential for scholarship through conference presentations and publications; Leadership and/or participation in state, regional, or national music therapy organizations.
