Job Summary:

The Technology Support Technician, Audio Visual Designer will report to the Senior Director of Technology Services and will work closely with the IRT Coordinator of Operations to assist with the design and implementation of new and renovated audiovisual venues such as classrooms and conference rooms. This position will also assist with troubleshooting existing audio visual equipment.

Essential Responsibilities/Functions:

  • Designing, choosing, installing and configuring AV technologies and solutions
  • Managing audio visual projects in collaboration with other AV and IT engineers
  • Experience working with AV control systems such as Crestron and/or Extron
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting all AV technologies to ensure they remain operational before and after projects
  • Offering advice and recommendations on AV solutions, as well as highlighting risks and issues
  • Create internal and user facing documentation for AV use
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Provides high quality and professional customer-based service for campus-wide technology needs
  • Ensures that all University AV systems are user friendly and support
  • Ensures University guidelines and policies are followed
  • Ensure AV solutions are modern, scalable and user friendly
Qualifications (Required):

Minimally, the Technology Support Technician, Audio Visual Designer should possess:

  • Three (3) years of professional experience (preferably working in AV design, development, and implementation)
  • Experience working collaboratively on or leading IT Related projects
  • Experience designing AV systems in an academic setting
  • Experience with Crestron and Extron equipment


Required Education :

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Note: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute applicable professional experience on a year-for-year basis. Therefore, to qualify under the substitution allowance, candidates must possess a total of at least six (6) years of applicable professional experience.
Qualifications (Highly Desirable):
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to work independently to solve problems with minimal supervision
  • Experience in inventory management and procurement in an IT environment
  • Proven ability to stay current with rapidly changing technologies and changes in University policy
  • Ability to review, document, and improve existing processes
  • Ability to review construction and architectural documents
