Interim Upper School Spanish Teacher Department: Upper School Location: Washington, DC

Status: Interim Part-Time


Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school in Washington, DC, seeks an interim, full-time Spanish teacher for its Upper School division (grades 9-12) for the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach beginning through advanced levels of Spanish and have a native or near-native proficiency in spoken and written Spanish. Classroom experience as a Spanish teacher, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and support students and a willingness to work collaboratively are also required. A bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in Spanish or a related field and a graduate degree are preferred. An appreciation for the School’s commitment to academic and personal excellence, Quaker values, equity, justice, service, and students’ social emotional wellness is also essential.

The most desirable candidates will also be able to demonstrate proficiency using digital and online platforms for remote instruction as well as proven effectiveness as a classroom teacher in a brick-and-mortar setting. Teaching positions at Sidwell Friends School are campus-based; therefore, this position requires teaching in person.

This position begins in August 2021 and concludes in January 2022.
