The Office of Admissions at UW Bothell has an outstanding opportunity for a First-Year Admissions Advisor/Recruiter.

Working within the Office of Admissions, the First-Year Admissions Advisor will recruit and advise prospective first-year students (predominately coming from the Washington State Community) to prepare them to apply to UW Bothell. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Admissions (with advice from the Director of Admissions and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management), the First-Year Admissions Advisor will create and implement recruitment strategies to better serve the prospective student population of first-year students.
The Advisor will advise prospective students, primarily based on academic major of interest, to help with academic planning, career options, program eligibility requirements, and admissions requirements.

• Independently plan and execute presentations to students through high school and community college visits, community events, college fairs, individual appointments, etc.
• Support all recruiting and advising activities through the Office of Admissions.
• As a member of the Advising Team, contribute to and implement short- and long-term plans for University recruitment and pre-admission advising functions. Advise potential applicants (in person, group session, phone, chat, e-mail, or web).
• Act as advising liaison to assigned high school and/or community college faculty, staff, and students.
• Lead community and business outreach efforts.
• Participate in the professional admissions and advising community to strengthen professional knowledge base and to reinforce UW Bothell name recognition.
• Build and maintain relations with UW Bothell Academic Programs, as well as internal and external constituents.
• Represent UW Bothell in a professional manner at all times.
• Contribute to and support the implementation and maintenance of innovative recruiting and advising strategies.
• Recruit a diverse and academically talented student population.

Holistic File Review:
• Conduct holistic application review and rating of first-year applicants.
• Rate candidates on both cognitive and non-cognitive attributes such as overall ability and motivation to be successful at UWB.
• Participate in admissions committee meetings.

• Design and review publications and marketing materials, plan and execute recruiting events.
• Other Duties as Assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree, and at least two years of professional experience recruiting and advising diverse populations in an educational setting. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
• Knowledge and experience of the pre-admission and admissions processes.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with the public, students, faculty, and community members including those from various cultural and socio-economic groups.
• Ability to collect data and create reports using database systems.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to student records, information systems, admissions, and registration.
• Presentation and advising skills that demonstrate commitment to best methods including use of technology.
• Must dependable, accurate, have attention to detail, be a good team member, and a positive attitude.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

• 2+ years of professional work experience with diverse student populations preferred.

Conditions of employment:
• Work is performed in an office setting or remotely, and externally in high schools, community colleges, community events, and college fairs.
• Evening and weekend work is required.
• Travel is required in-state and out-of-state.
• Must be able to lift/move approximately 50 pounds of recruiting materials.
