Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The Department of PM&R was awarded a $50 million grant to study the ongoing health impacts of combat concussions, such as those from blasts, bullets and hand-to-hand fighting, as well as vehicle accidents, sports injuries, and falls. Researchers from the LIMBIC - CENC team have already discovered links between combat concussions and dementia, Parkinson’s disease, chronic pain, opioid usage, and suicide risk. An important part of managing this grant is managing large amounts of data, and we are in need of a research technician. The Research Technician will perform quality checks on data, track and communicate data requests, and update the project websites.
Minimum Hiring Standards
The incumbent should have a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience in clinical research. Must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU . The successful candidate will communicate effectively and thrive in a fast-paced and flexible environment.
Preferred Hiring Standards
Two years of clinical research experience.
Familiarity with electronic data capture systems such as Medidata strongly preferred.
Demonstrate an ability to learn and grow scientifically.
