The Office of Core Curriculum (OCC) and the School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Singapore Management University, invites applications for either a Lecturer or Assistant Professor (Education) in Humanities to begin in August 2021 or January 2022.

The primary teaching responsibility of the selected candidate would be to teach the course “Critical Thinking in the Real World” as part of the Modes of Thinking basket of the Core Curriculum. We also welcome candidates who can offer courses in the “Cultures of the Modern World” basket, and/or can teach multidisciplinary survey courses such as “War and Peace” and “Wealth and Poverty” as part of our “Big Questions” course.

The position requires a doctorate in Philosophy or a relevant discipline by the date of appointment. We seek candidates with a demonstrated excellent teaching ability and (in the case of the Assistant Professorship) a good scholarly research record.

Singapore Management University is a research university committed to an multidisciplinary and integrated curriculum. Salary and benefits, such as a housing allowance, and research support, are highly competitive. The teaching load is six (6) courses per year for the Assistant Professorship and eight (8) for the Lecturer position.
