Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, College of Health and Human Sciences, Purdue University. The Head will be an internationally-recognized academic scholar providing leadership and vision and will facilitate research, teaching, and engagement activities in the School. The Head is also responsible for the School’s fiscal management, personnel issues, faculty/staff development, alumni relations, and advocacy for the School to the College, University, and larger community.
School. Reimagined in 2019 by the Purdue University Board of Trustees, The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management hosts a complex mix of specialties, including the world-renowned hospitality and tourism management program (HTM)); a global leader in hospitality management education; retail management; financial planning and counseling; and sales programs. The School is home to a collegial and diverse staff of 30 tenured/tenure track faculty and 900+ undergraduate and graduate students. Beyond an academic curriculum that fuses theory and practice, HTM prepares its students to live in the world as citizens of the world. The Head will provide visionary leadership to guide the School through fundamental global shifts in HTM and retail segments while leveraging top-ranked programs in financial counseling & planning and selling & sales management.
College. The College of Health and Human Sciences is the third-largest College at Purdue. Position Requirements and Timeline. Applicants must have scholarly credentials commensurate with the rank of tenured Full Professor, including an earned Doctorate in HTM or related consumer-focused disciplines from an accredited school or program. Regardless of academic specialty, applicants should have a strong understanding of and appreciation for hospitality and tourism management issues and concerns. Desirable attributes include a strong record of published research and external funding, prior experience in academic administration and undergraduate and graduate education, excellent communication skills, commitment to teaching, and the development and advancement of individual faculty, staff, students, and the Department as a whole. This position is a full-time, 12 month, tenured position.
