Adjunct Instructor of Fashion

Marist College invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Fashion. Specifically, the College seeks applicants with expertise in visual merchandising, knitwear, and event planning. Ideal candidates will have expertise in one of these areas – expertise in all three areas is not required. The Adjunct Instructor of Fashion will be responsible for teaching undergraduate course(s) in these specific areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of industry experience in their area of expertise and a relevant Bachelor's degree. Applicants must have a strong motivation to teach professional techniques and standards to Fashion Program students, an ability to create a positive learning and working studio environment, and an ability to work well with students in providing technical and experiential expertise and mentoring them in project development and construction of creative presentation.

Essential Functions:

The Adjunct Instructor(s) of Fashion will be guided by a syllabus set for the course. Selected finalists will be responsible for delivering content, assessing learning, and maintaining active communication with students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.

About the Department and School

The Fashion Program features a comprehensive curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree for Fashion Merchandising or a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree for Fashion Design. Fashion Merchandising majors may opt for one or more concentrations - Business, Product Development or Fashion Promotion. Fashion Design majors may opt for a minor in Product Development or Merchandising.
