The Department of Health and Exercise Studies (HES) seeks applicants for a full-time non-tenure track, renewable contract faculty position to begin in the upcoming Spring 2022 semester. Primary responsibilities include teaching an estimated seven credit hours (seven courses) per semester of health and fitness classes with a focus on outdoor education classes such as backpacking, basic canoeing, basic rock climbing and challenge course programming. Knowledge to teach in other outdoor education areas such as mountaineering, intermediate rock climbing, sea kayaking, whitewater kayaking, whitewater canoeing, rafting, fly fishing and mountain biking are preferred. Instructor led field trips are required each semester. The candidate must be willing to lead a minimum of three full weekend class trips per semester in the field and in addition, a nine to ten-day trip over spring break. Expertise in driving and loading 15-passenger vans and fully loaded trailers are required. Equipment repair and maintenance is also required. Additional responsibilities will include departmental and university committee participation, as well as equipment planning and procurement for areas of expertise.
