RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Teach in an innovative and engaging Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program particularly in Psychopharmacology, Psychopathologic Disorders Across the Lifespan: Neurobiology, Psychiatric Assessment, Essential Features, and Evidence-Based Treatments, and Psychiatric-Mental Health NP Role and Clinical Courses I in the graduate certificate and doctoral program in nursing.
  • Teach courses in other graduate nursing core courses commensurate with department needs.
  • Maintain national certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and licensure as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the State of Minnesota.
  • Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department or university needs.
  • Maintain immunizations and background study clearance and other requirements of the department and college.
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge in the field.
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
  • Contribute to student learning and development including student advising and chairing or serving on master’s thesis, scholarly inquiry paper, or Doctor or Nursing Practice Project committees.
  • Provide service to the university and community, including the program, department, college, university and the greater community. Support Winona State University’s mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
  • Work effectively with health care industry and community affiliates on graduate nursing education, research, and practice issues.
  • Assist with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accreditation processes, program development and growth, program assessment, and curriculum design and delivery.
  • Practice effectively through collaboration with other professionals in the health care industry and the community.
  • Commit to fostering cultural intelligence, inclusive excellence, and global involvement through authentic and professional relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing as an adult or psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner or enrolled and/or near the completion of a doctoral (DNP, PhD, EdD) degree; Doctorate is required for tenure.
  • Graduate degree in Nursing from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited or National League for Nursing Accredited (NLNAC) program. 
  • Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration, or eligible for licensure, in Minnesota and Wisconsin and licensed as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or eligible for APRN licensure by the start date of the appointment, in Minnesota and Wisconsin. 
  • Current national certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Satisfactory background study clearance as required by Minnesota statutes.
  • Evidence of experience as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.
  • Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills including verbal, nonverbal and written methods.
  • Eligible for health care provider CPR certification, and up to date to immunizations, including influenza, and  other verifications required for the department.

Preferred:

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience employing, assessing, and/or developing various innovative and research-informed clinical practices.
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective graduate teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching with simulation modalities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design and delivery of teaching technologies (e.g., Web-based learning platforms, synchronous Internet meeting programs, email, database management, data storage, distance learning).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and engage well with diverse students, faculty, administrators, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to have strong, positive relationships with practice communities.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in subject areas such as PMHNP role courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience with a CCNE accredited program.
  • Demonstrated experience in advising and supervising graduate level students.
  • Demonstrated potential for serving as a committee chair or committee member on thesis, scholarly inquiry paper, or DNP project committees.
  • Demonstrated evidence of scholarly research or creative achievement. 
  • Demonstrated effective leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration with community partners.
