Assistant/Associate Professor in Nursing Education

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Teach in a well-respected and continuously evolving Nurse Educator program, particularly in the in the Nursing Education: Theory and Research, Curriculum and Program Design, Instruction and Evaluation courses in the master’s and graduate certificate programs.
• Teach and contribute teaching expertise to courses in other graduate nursing core and other program courses commensurate with department needs.
• Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department or university needs.
• Maintain immunizations and background study clearance and other requirements of the department and college.
• Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge in the field.
• Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
• Contribute to student learning and development including student advising and chairing or serving on master’s thesis, scholarly inquiry paper, or Doctor or Nursing Practice Project committees.
• Provide service to the university and community, including the program, department, college, university and the greater community. Support Winona State University’s mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
• Work effectively with health care industry, education, and community affiliates on graduate nursing education, research, and practice issues.
• Assist with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accreditation processes, program development and growth, program assessment, and curriculum design and delivery.
• Practice effectively through collaboration with other professionals in the health care industry, in higher education, and in the community.
• Commit to fostering cultural intelligence, inclusive excellence, and global involvement through authentic and professional relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

• Doctoral degree (i.e., PhD, DNP, EdD).
• Graduate degree in Nursing from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited or National League for Nursing Accredited (NLNAC) program. 
• Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration, or eligible for licensure, in Minnesota and Wisconsin by start date.
• Graduate level courses in curriculum, instruction, educational testing, and measurement or Certification for Nurse Educators (CNE) by the National League for Nursing, or willingness to complete CNE certification within three years
• Satisfactory background study clearance as required by Minnesota statutes.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching nurse educator theory and research, curriculum and program design, instruction and evaluation, and assessment courses at the graduate level or professional nursing staff development.
• Evidence of scholarly research or creative achievement appropriate for graduate education in nursing.
• Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills, including verbal, nonverbal and written methods.
• Eligible for health care provider CPR certification, and up to date to immunizations, including influenza, and  other verifications required for the department.

• Demonstrated evidence of effective graduate teaching skills.
• Demonstrated ability to coach colleagues in teaching andragogies, assessment, evaluation, and curriculum and program design.
• Demonstrated experience teaching with simulation modalities.
• Demonstrated proficiency in design and delivery of teaching technologies (e.g., Web-based learning platforms, synchronous Internet meeting programs, email, database management, data storage, distance learning).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and engage well with diverse students, faculty, administrators, and community partners.
• Demonstrated ability to have strong, positive relationships with practice and education communities.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in subject areas such as nurse educator role courses.
• Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate as a member of a team.
• Demonstrated experience with a CCNE accredited program.
• Demonstrated experience in advising and supervising graduate level students.
• Demonstrated potential for serving as a committee chair or committee member on thesis, scholarly inquiry paper, or DNP project committees.
• Demonstrated evidence of scholarly research or creative achievement. 
• Demonstrated effective leadership experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse individuals and communities.
• Demonstrated commitment to collaboration with community partners.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in didactic, virtual, and clinical teaching at the graduate level.
