Math Faculty, Spring Valley
Full time faculty positions begin in August 2021 with a 30 credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.
The ideal candidate will teach 100-level mathematics courses such as Introduction to Statistics, Mathematics for the Liberal Arts, College Algebra, and Pre-Calculus. Future opportunities may exist to teach 200-level courses such as Calculus I-III, Linear Algebra, or Differential Equations. For academically-qualified candidates (see “Requirements” section below), opportunities may exist to teach courses in the physical sciences (e.g., Astronomy, Physics).
Expected teaching load may include: concurrent enrollment offerings delivered for local high school students. Evening and online teaching may be required.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.
CMC Faculty are expected to engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.
Salary range: $65,686.19 - $80,005.72 depending upon education and experience. Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Math, Applied Math, or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Math or related field is required. Minimum of one year full time teaching experience required, or equivalent as adjunct. Higher education teaching experience is preferred. A candidate with full time higher education teaching experience is preferred. Candidates who meet CMC credentialing standards in a secondary discipline (e.g., Physical Sciences) may be given preference.
