Position Summary:

The successful candidate will support Dr. Okonkwo's research programs that seek to establish effective prevention of Alzheimer's disease. (S)he will be actively engaged in cutting-edge neuroimaging and biomarker research studies, as well as investigations of lifestyle and genetic factors related to cognitive resilience across the Alzheimer's disease spectrum. Primary areas of responsibility include data processing, data analyses, preparation of scientific writing such as abstracts, posters, papers, and grants, and coordination of activities and communication between relevant parties for a multi-site study.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Master's degree required. Study in psychology, neuroscience, public health, biomedical engineering, computer sciences, exercise science, kinesiology, the life sciences, or other related fields preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Experience with analyses of research data using applicable software and statistical packages is required. Previous experience with scientific presentations, abstracts, posters, or publications preferred. Prior experience of being part of an academic clinical research group is a plus.

Additional Information:

This is a fixed-term terminal position which is expected to end on July 31, 2022. Extension on a temporary basis and/or conversion to a renewable appointment is possible, depending upon availability of additional funding, program needs and satisfactory performance.

The applicant should have excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, the flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively, and should understand basic elements of research studies including hypothesis generation, study design & objectives, statistical analyses, and presentation of results. It is important for the applicant to have good communication skills and office management skills. Interested candidates need not satisfy each of the foregoing preferences to apply.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
