Job Summary

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Budgets & Financial Planning, act as a key member of the college’s central Budget and Financial Planning team. Primary responsibilities include high-level and detailed analysis and modeling for the support of central activities, and analysis for budgetary constituents. Assist the Director in the college’s annual budget and strategic planning cycle, forecasting, reporting, and process improvements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analytics & Modeling: Complete routine and ad-hoc analyses for various college initiatives and constituents. Analyses include but are not limited to: legal fee analysis, debt analysis, benefits analysis, cash projections, and current year operating budget projections. Assist the Director in multi-year operational and capital finance projections. Aid in the development of key metrics to assist in the cost/benefit analysis of strategic initiatives. Evaluate data integrity and cleanse data when needed.

Budget Support & Planning Cycle: Provide budgetary support to constituents across campus by aiding in ad-hoc queries and analyses. Initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with other college departments by providing budgetary support and guidance as needed. Serve as a central point of contact for campus user on budgeting and financial questions. Provide budgetary support and detailed analysis for the Finance and Administration division and other areas of the college as needed. Assist in the communication, dissemination, data collection, roll-up and mapping of budgetary information to the college’s ERP system. Aid in the creation and maintenance of the annual budgetary planning cycle calendar, and communication of planning deadlines to the campus community.

Reporting: Develop dashboard and budget management reporting which include high-level summaries of budget to actual variances and detailed transactional reports for respective campus areas. Monitor the monthly budget reports to inform the Director if corrective course of action is needed. Maintain and gather additional reporting requirements from campus constituents. Prepare and distribute monthly management/dashboard reporting. Prepare reports and presentations of financial information as needed.

Process Improvements: Embrace changing technologies and translate business needs into new, effective processes. Build out of new models and data mapping tools. Work with a variety of stakeholders to determine collaborative business practices and pathways forward for operational and reporting efficiencies. Act as a key player in providing essential ERP training and reporting for the college community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration required plus a minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience in planning, modeling, and analysis or an equivalent combination of education/experience.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Skills: Must possess exemplary problem solving skills, have a high degree of self-initiative, and be a team player. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Must have a mastery of Microsoft Excel. Preferred experience in Microsoft Access databases, as well as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Preferred experience in Workday ERP system. Must be able to demonstrate critical & creative thinking and independent judgment. Also possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and technical skills. Be able to analyze complex data and present findings. Financial modeling and analysis skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy are required. Must have discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality, interact with diverse constituencies, and manage multiple tasks & priorities simultaneously.
