Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Associate Director for Programs, the Membership Coordinator is responsible for managing several key aspects of the Campus Recreation Center:
1) Develop and lead the Campus Recreation Center’s ( CRC ) member recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies, including both internal and external to the university (i.e., alumni, faculty, staff, supplemental memberships, corporate and community).
2) Maintain and manage all membership services business activities.
3) Develop and supervise 10-14 student staff working in the Membership Services area.

Primary Responsibilities

Member Recruitment, Engagement, and Retention – 40%
o Develop and manage the CRC App and Fusion portal.
o Develop and lead the CRC’s member recruitment strategy, including new member marketing, promotions, trial membership, tours, orientations, surveys, events, and member referral program.
o Coordinate the member retention program, including member appreciation events, renewals, retention reward programs, and member exit surveys. Solicit and synthesize member feedback, and recommend and implement membership improvement efforts.
o Manage the CRC member messaging efforts, including overseeing daily, weekly, and monthly email communications regarding membership expirations, locker rental reminders, balances on account, and new member welcome message.
o Develop customized plans for corporate partners interested in providing memberships for employees. Strengthen relationships with prospective partners through presentations, marketing campaigns, and other outreach with outside groups.
o Meet or exceed established membership revenue targets.

Membership Services – 35%
o Serve as administrator for computerized membership, locker and sales software program (Fusion).
o Configure Fusion software to allow for membership and locker sales and collect registration fees for programs and services.
o Update Fusion program each semester and throughout the year to reflect changes in program offerings and fees.
o Manage database of paid memberships and locker rentals.
o Utilize Fusion program and SAP Business Warehouse to generate monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
o Use Fusion software to process, monitor, and input all Payroll Deductions.
o Work collaboratively with multiple campus departments, including Payroll, Parking Services, ALLCARD Office, Alumni, Bursar’s, etc.
o Processes all membership change and cancellation transactions and daily deposits. Maintain accurate financial records for quarterly and annual reporting.
o Supervise all membership, locker, and program registration sales.

Personnel Management – 25%
o Oversee member services desk staffing, including hiring, training, and supervising 10-14 student employees.
o Develop an on-going training and accuracy program for member services staff, to sales accuracy and customer service.
o Create and manage student work schedules.
o Ensure appropriate staffing for all hours of operation
o Create, encourage, and support professional development opportunities for student staff, including training programs, professional association involvement, research, conferences, and individual mentoring.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Student Personnel or related degree required.
- Experience supervising student employees.
