Digital Director



Job Summary

The Digital Director is responsible for the operation, design and performance of the WGCU digital portfolio including websites, mobile platform, social media, engagement and marketing initiatives. This position provides oversight of digital product analysis, data and performance metrics across digital platforms, with a focus on audience and revenue growth opportunities. Works collaboratively to ensure consistency of WGCU’s digital brand and quality in the creative presentation of news and associated public affairs programming for digital publication.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

• Provides leadership and oversight of the front-end of WGCU.org and back-end product development; WGCU social media and digital products.

• Provides professional leadership to a digital team. Communicates directives, expectations, and responsibilities in alignment with WGCU and FGCU objective and goals.

• Utilizes editorial skill and audience metrics to shape content selection and strategy across broadcast, digital and podcasting platforms.

• Collects, analyzes and interprets performance metrics across platforms. Develops strategies to increase and diversify WGCU’s audience and identifies opportunities for audience and revenue growth.

• Collaborates internally and externally to ensure consistency across all digital channels. Provides forward-thinking strategies to build and maintain a high-quality and professional digital presentation.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Five years of professional, full time experience leading digital content initiatives in a digital-centric media organization.

Experience leading design and functionality initiatives for organization website
Experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting and optimizing digital data and analytics for a media company.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with HTML/CSS or XML, SEO/SEM, Google Analytics and CRM software.

Preferred Qualifications :

Three years of work experience providing direct supervision of others.

Strong technical experience and proficient with Adobe Creative Suite & Wordpress.

Experience with web development, digital media production and graphic design.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Knowledge of journalistic ethics and standards, and of policies, procedures, and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.

Knowledge of current trends in public media with an emphasis on digital platforms.

Knowledge of the public media system.

Knowledge of social media platforms and ability to implement social media campaigns.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with attention to detail and within deadlines.

Ability to provide digital leadership, develop and manage result-driven digital strategies.

Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.

Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students and the general public.

Ability to advise external producers and teach internal staff on digital best practices, audience building and engagement.

Ability to identify and transform inefficient systems and practices.

Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 annually
