Position Title Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program Director Position Summary

The College of Nursing at California Baptist University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position for Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner ( AGACNP ) Program Director.

California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for the following faculty position. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service through the integration of the Christian faith and learning.

The Director of the AGACNP program is a registered professional nurse appointed by the Dean of the College of Nursing in consultation with the President, Provost, and faculty of the College of Nursing who functions under the supervision of the Graduate Department Chair and assists the Dean by assuming delegated leadership responsibility.

Qualifications

Doctorally prepared candidate preferred; or minimum MSN degree with an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner concentration from an accredited institution of higher education required.
Active unencumbered California RN license, NP certification and furnishing license.
National ACNP -AG board certification in population-focused area.
Demonstrated leadership and management including a minimum of one year’s experience in some capacity of nursing leadership.
Two years of college/university teaching; including a minimum of one year experience teaching at the APN level in an accredited higher degree nursing program preferred.

Teaching Responsibilities

PERSONNEL
Works with the Graduate Department Chair to promote a scholarly atmosphere within the department and provide opportunity and encouragement for the development and enhancement of abilities and performance of each faculty member for the program.
Collaborates with the Graduate Department Chair in recruitment of full-time and part-time faculty for the program.
Collaborates with the Graduate Department Chair in appointment and development of faculty to graduate teaching responsibilities.
Consults with faculty to resolve any concerns with agency affiliations.

STUDENTS
Works with the Graduate Department Chair in facilitating recruitment, admission, advisement, student progression and retention.
Works with the Graduate Department Chair in dealing with student concerns.
Works with the Director of Clinical Affiliations for practicum placement.

EDUCATIONAL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Works with the Graduate Department Chair in the ongoing development and evaluation of the AGACNP Program.
Works with the Graduate Department Chair in planning class schedules.
Serves as a liaison with nursing faculty and clinical agencies for clinical practicum.
Assumes responsibility for teaching assignment as outlined in the University faculty handbook.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the University’s mission and goals, the continuous quality improvement process, and embraces a broad institutional view.
Serves as a team member and leads through service and modeling.
Provides feedback to the Graduate Department Chair and assists the Graduate Department Chair in the development, implementation, and revision of a strategic long range plan for the College of Nursing.
Builds consensus between students, faculty and nursing administration, respecting lines of authority as set forth by the University.
Holds meetings with the adjunct and full time faculty who teach in the AGACNP program.
Assists the Graduate Department Chair and Dean in the preparation of reports for the institution, state regulatory agencies, and accreditation bodies.

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES
Maintains membership and participates in professional organizations.
Maintains understanding of current trends and innovations in nursing practice, research, and education.
Maintains professional competence in clinical practice and national NP board certification in population-focused area. Demonstrates scholarship through presentations, papers, publications, and other creative and professional activities.
Serves as a Christian role model.

ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND OTHER DUTIES
Fulfills teaching assignments as determined by academic contract.
Demonstrates and leads in a commitment to the integration of faith and learning.
Demonstrates and leads in a commitment to the utilization of technology in instruction.
