Director of Clinical and Simulation Education - Nursing (College-Wide), Spring Valley



The Director of Clinical and Simulation Education – Nursing provides oversight and support to the nursing program in the areas of clinical, skills lab and simulation experiences for program students in compliance with all accreditation guidelines and requirements.

The Director of Clinical and Simulation Education – Nursing manages instructional and administrative leadership functions under the supervision of School Dean and the Program Director who serves as the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). The Director of Clinical and Simulation Education teaches in the program in a limited capacity, and serves as the administrative designee for CNO in his or her absence, or as delegated for specific functions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ensuring that offerings of the program articulate with CMC’s mission, vision, strategic plan and institutional learning outcomes as well as state and national standards; assists with managing budget, coordinating and overseeing hiring and support of faculty, coordination of program accreditation applications/renewals and program activity reporting, leading program advisory committee meetings when needed, outreach, marketing, & recruiting activities, and assists with program assessment.

This position is a year-round administrative, non-faculty staff position with limited teaching responsibilities. The incumbent must be qualified to teach in the assigned areas, however, is not assigned a faculty rank.

Prerequisites for Position (Qualifications Standards):

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples of qualifications include: Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include: A Master’s degree in Nursing and 2000 verifiable related occupational experience within the past 5 years and a minimum of one year demonstrated teaching/training experience (or equivalent in part-time role). An active, unencumbered Colorado RN license or the ability to obtain a Colorado Nursing license is required. Prior mental health nursing experience required for one of the openings.

A Doctoral degree or current enrollment in a Doctoral program is preferred.

Experience managing faculty and staff essential.

Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development and curriculum evaluation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work effectively with administration, staff, faculty, students, and clinical facilities. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and evaluate complex programs and processes, demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, knowledge and proficiency in current technology used in nursing as well as generally expected office technology and software.

Knowledge of and experience with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) is desired.
