Assistant/Associate Professor in Petroleum Engineering

 

The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Petroleum Engineering to begin Fall 2021. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering with specialization in reservoir simulation, reservoir characteristics, stimulation and production. The applicant must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, research and service. The successful candidate will be expected to be active in research in his/her fields of interests, incorporate high-impact educational practices in teaching, advise undergraduate students, and provide service to the department, university, and community. 

The successful candidate is expected to teach the following courses: Petroleum Reservoir Engineering, Reservoir Simulation, Stimulation and Intervention in Petroleum Production Operations, Applied Reservoir Geology, and Applied Reservoir Simulation. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of teaching introductory level courses, lab-based courses and supervise senior design projects. All instruction and all university business is conducted in English.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Teaching petroleum engineering courses 

• Participation in departmental, school, and university committees and activities

• Advising and mentoring students 

• Participation in outreach activities, such as continuing education workshops, conferences and seminars

• Involvement in research activities within the department.  

 

Required Qualifications:

• Ph. D. in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education 

• University teaching experience

• Effective English language communication skills 

• Commitment to excellence scholarly activities and teaching, including the use of high-impact educational practices
