About the Opportunity:
The Office of the Chancellor at Northeastern University advances learner-centered, global, and lifelong experiential education. The Office partners with faculty and staff across all colleges, schools, and campuses to support innovation in teaching and learning, bring best practices to scale, maximize learner mobility across all campuses and globally, and expand campuses and international experiential networks. The Office of the Chancellor oversees 13 divisions encompassing Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, EDGE, the Roux Institute, Mobility, Educational Innovation, Regional Campuses, and New College of Humanities. The Office of the Chancellor Finance and Operations team provides financial and operational support for all of these divisions. The Director of Administration and Finance will lead all financial, operational, and space related matters for the EDGE, Enrollment Management, and Educational Innovation divisions and will supervise a Business Operations Associate and Contracts Analyst. This position will also work closely with the Chancellor's Office HR and Organizational Effectiveness team on all personnel matters.

Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance (AVCF) and will be part of the Office of the Chancellor Finance and Operations team. This team consists of 4 Directors of Administration and Finance, a Contracts Analyst, an IT Support Specialist, and Business Operations Associates. The Enrollment Management (EM) division is led by the Vice President for Enrollment Management and is responsible for undergraduate and graduate enrollment, admissions/recruitment marketing, student financial services, international student services and enrollment research. The Educational Innovation division is led by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Educational Innovation which includes the university's Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning Through Research, the University Honors Program, Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, Employer Engagement and Career Design, the Global Experience Office, Peer Tutoring, Self-Authored Integrated Learning, and the Pre-Med and Pre-Health Advising Program. The EDGE division is led by the Vice President and Senior Vice Chancellor for Experiential Digital Global Education and develops and executes strategies to grow the university's lifelong learning and experiential programs throughout the global university system.

The Director of Administration and Finance is a partner to senior leaders within the EM, EDGE, and Educational Innovation divisions. They will develop and maintain a forecasting and reporting process for each division to ensure that senior leaders understand their budgets and commitments to optimize the strategic use of University funds. They provide oversight, analysis and reporting for operating, designated, and restricted budgets. This includes forecasting, managing ongoing transactions and projects related to finance, space, and operations in conjunction with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance.

Specifically, the director: plays a key role in the creation, maintenance and analysis of annual revenue and expense budgets in close partnership with unit leaders; performs multi-year financial scenarios and quantitative analyses; tracks all budget allocations; resolves budget discrepancies; ensures salary tracker is updated and submits monthly forecast reports; oversees all financial transaction entries; provides training on budget related matters. Ensures internal University and college policies are followed. Serves as key point of contact with the university and expert on all fiscal related matters and financial systems. Assists with onboarding new employees such as Banner and Concur access training. Collaborates closely with the Chancellor Office HR team on personnel matters.

Works with the AVCF in identifying space needs and resolving concerns; maintains space records; provides assistance to the AVCF on oversight of renovation projects and the coordination of large-scale moves. Assists in preparing and prioritizing capital project needs including annual and long-range capital budgeting. Under the direction of the AVCF, takes the lead on short-term projects as needed (for example, strategic analysis, planning or reporting).

Plays a key role in creating and maintaining management reporting. Provides oversight to a team responsible for reconciling monthly expenses, processing all financial transactions such as journal entries, budget transfers, and purchase orders, and provides guidance on fiscal problems. Partners with the Contracts Analyst and other Directors of Finance to streamline contract review, transaction processing, and operations for maximum efficiency and customer service.

Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred, preferably in Business, Accounting, or Finance
o 7 to 10 years of experience required, with specific budgeting/financial management experience in higher education preferred
o Experience with Microsoft Excel required; experience with relational databases, and Banner financial system preferred
o Supervisory experience required
o Must work well in a team setting and have good interpersonal and communication skills
o Willingness and interest to explore and learn new technologies for efficient and effective data management
o Ability to work well under pressure, maintain confidentiality and work with diplomacy and tact required
o Strong analytical skills, ability to sort out complex information and pay close attention to detail are essential
o Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to exceeding client/customer expectations
