Primary Purpose of Position:
This is a part time temp SHRA Research Technician position. This position is essential to provide the technical assistance needed for conducting the research outlined for Research Project 1 of the RCMI grant.
Basic knowledge in the area of molecular and cell biology, experience in use of routine laboratory equipment, aptitude for quickly acquiring new information and learning new methods and procedures. BS degree or relevant undergraduate degree in STEM.
Contributing: Related knowledge and experience required to perform assigned duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge in the area of molecular and cell biology, experience in use of routine laboratory equipment, aptitude for quickly acquiring new information and learning new methods and procedures. Knowledge and history in research, capable of conducting a variety of biological experiments. Detailed, oriented, competent in scientific reading, writing and experience in a research-oriented environment. It is expected that the candidate will (1) have prior experience in molecular biology, cell culture, or genetics preferred; (2) execute experiments, analyze data, and compile records of data; (3) maintain cleanliness and safety of laboratory area; and (4) monitor laboratory supplies. Additionally, the candidate must be able to (1) perform biological test and experiments according to protocol; (2) prepare standard media, reagents, and other solutions according to protocol; and (3) to independently operate equipment and instruments in support of the laboratory.
