Position Summary:
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the NSF funded project (“Collaborative Research: RoL: The evo-devo of male pregnancy and its effects on the brood pouch microbiome”) aimed at using comparative genomics to investigate how the brood pouch, a structure associated with male pregnancy, evolved in seahorses and their relatives. The postdoc will also contribute to the identification of genes involved in the development of the pouch and to efforts to compare the microbiomes among different species of seahorses, pipefishes and seadragons.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. at the time of appointment in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
- Experience conducting research in genomics or evolutionary biology, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience analyzing next-generation sequencing data.
- Experience in the genomics of marine fishes.
