About the Opportunity:

The Senior Assistant Director of Financial Counseling Services (SFS) assists with the processing, servicing and related counseling activities for Northeastern students/parents who are navigating the financial aid and student account activities in relation to affording a Northeastern education. The Senior Assistant Director will work collaboratively, along with other Counseling Services staff, within SFS and select external stakeholders. The Senior Assistant Director will work with both Financial Aid and Student Accounts to facilitate account payment, loan counseling, and payment plan establishment for individual and groups of students. Particular emphasis will be around the management of NU's institutional loan and payment plan programs.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Assistant Director represents Student Financial Services when working with campus enrollment teams and colleges to financially counsel and retain students, including attending any enrollment and recruitment events, such as open houses, orientations, and online presentations. The Senior Assistant Director may assist with training SFS staff on all NU Loan Program matters, including counseling services to students around the topics of student loan opportunities, loan repayment, managing debt, and long term financing options for student charges. As a member of the Counseling Services team, the Senior Assistant Director will assist in optimizing technology and data analysis to improve student experience, satisfaction, and success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. 4-6 years' experience in student personnel administration, financial aid required. Prior banking or loan processing experience preferred. Knowledge of Title IV regulations, federal and institutional need analysis. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of PowerFAIDS, Banner, Fly Wire, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.

  • Flexible work schedule.
