Job Description

Duties:

The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will serve as the lead DEI staff member at GSE. The position will create and implement School-wide DEI initiatives including a strategic plan that promote an inclusive learning and workplace environment. The Director will be charged with collecting, analyzing and assessing data to inform training and development opportunities, and then implement these training and development opportunities accordingly. The Director will work collaboratively across the School with leaders, committees and task forces to create and drive best practices among DEI policies and procedures. The Director will serve as the primary point of contact and as a central resource for students, staff and faculty on DEI issues and matters. A key responsibility will be building relationships with collaborators and constituents across GSE and the University. The Director will provide advice and counsel on pertinent communications and messaging.

Qualifications:

A master's degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualified candidates must have demonstrated experience/expertise in the following:
  • Subject matter expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • A history of working collaboratively across complex institutions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex issues and objectives through quantitative, qualitative, and visual means
  • Capacity to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and inspire others to share in a commitment to social justice and community building
  • Experience in strategic planning, implementation, and outcome assessment of DEI initiatives/programs


The following experience is highly preferred:
  • DEI experience in an academic environment
  • Familiarity with relevant frameworks, such as Affirmative Action, Titles VI and IX, ADA, etc.
