POSITION SUMMARY:
Rogers State University located in Claremore, Oklahoma, is
currently seeking to fill a vacant, full-time, ten-month Instructor
position in the physical sciences beginning August 1, 2021. The
position requires an M.S. in physical science discipline and a
commitment to teaching excellence. Experience in on-line course
development and delivery is desirable. In addition to teaching, the
faculty member will be involved in, but not limed
to, STEM initiatives, student advisement, committee
participation, and curriculum development. The successful candidate
will teach general education courses in general physical science,
introductory and general chemistry courses, and other related
lower-level physical science courses. Travel to RSU’s other
campuses may be required. Salary will be commensurate with
credentials, qualifications, and experience.
Reports to: Department Head
Hours: Faculty are required to hold eight (8) office hours per
week
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• M.S. in a physical science discipline and a commitment to
teaching excellence
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Experience in online course development and delivery;
• Knowledge within the virtual classroom;
• Ability to motivate students in a distance learning environment
and aid them in becoming self-disciplined students and effective
time managers;
• Excellent communication skills
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintain assigned teaching load (15 credit hours per semester) in
accordance with established faculty requirements and
responsibilities in teaching general education courses in general
physical science, introductory and general chemistry courses, and
other related lower-level physical science courses;
• Provide academic interaction with students on a weekly basis
through posted instructor guidance and assignment
feedback;
• Involvement in STEM initiatives;
• Advise students;
• Provide student support via email, MyRSU, and phone, as
needed;
• Grade and post student work while providing constructive and
detailed feedback to help students achieve academic
success;
• Maintain effective and efficient record keeping;
• Foster a positive environment in which students are encouraged to
be actively engaged in the learning process;
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional
environment;
• Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such
as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources
and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating
respect for others;
• Develop curriculum;
• Stay informed of current trends and new approaches to
instruction;
• Attend departmental and university meetings;
• Serve on various faculty committees;
• Prepare and submit necessary reports;
• Travel to other campuses as required;
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
