Position Description Summary: The Department of Advanced Studies and Innovation (ASI) in the College of Education at Augusta University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Curriculum Studies. While the position is intended to be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor, the rank of Associate Professor may be considered for outstanding candidates.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities include: 1) developing and teaching graduate-level introductory- and advanced courses in curriculum studies; 2) conducting and supervising research; and 3) providing service to the college, the university, the community, and the profession. The position requires the candidate to maintain an active research agenda, including regular publications, professional presentations, and external grant submissions. Candidates should be prepared to deliver courses online, hybrid, and face-to-face with a strong preference for candidates who are prepared to teach in all formats. With primary responsibilities focused on specialist and doctoral courses, the successful candidate will also be prepared to mentor doctoral students in our Ed.D. Program that explores the intersections between educational innovation and social justice. Our doctoral program uses a research team approach to the dissertation rather than individual dissertations. We are an active member of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate and committed to implementing its principles in our doctoral degree.

About the Department: The Department of Advanced Studies and Innovation (ASI) offers the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counselor Education (School and Clinical Mental Health Counseling), the Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Advanced Educational Studies, and the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Innovation with programs accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities. Also, the department houses research and foundations courses that serve the entire college.

ASI has recently experienced extraordinary growth in our research productivity, grant activity, and awards for teaching excellence. We have strong, collaborative relationships with school districts, community partners and national organizations such as the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). The department resides in the College of Education located on the picturesque Summerville campus.

Minimum Requirements: We invite applications from candidates with an earned doctorate in curriculum studies or curriculum theory. The successful candidate is expected to have begun the development of a research agenda with the potential for developing a national and/or international reputation.

Desired Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with an expertise in quantitative research methods or mixed methods, an identified substantive area of interest (e.g., curriculum, culturally responsive pedagogy, educational psychology), teaching experience at the graduate level, experience engaging in research in P-20 settings, and a research record that demonstrates potential for obtaining external research funding. The department seeks candidates with an interest in helping development alignment of our Ed.D. Program to the CPED Principles and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and to mentor students.
