Administratively responsible for developing and directing activities for the Office of Nursing Research, Scholarship & Science ("ONRSS") & for stimulating, promoting & developing the research interests and related productivity of the Nursing Faculty. The incumbent is accountable to the Dean of the School of Nursing.

Direct & assist faculty to develop programs of externally funded nursing research. Develop & plan appropriate programs to maintain institutional evaluation data related to the School of Nursing. Collaborate with Programs, Departments, Assoc. Deans & appropriate HSC committees to implement & coordinate an ongoing evaluation program for the School. Establish clinical agency research partnerships. Ensure compliance with Human Subjects Protection. Develop & implement intramural research & scholarship programs. Manage the resources, activities and provision of services by staff of the ONRSS and make recommendations to the Dean, as appropriate. Consult with Assoc. Deans on curriculum matters related to research content within programs and curriculum evaluation.

Prepare an annual fiscal year report of research and evaluation activities. Coordinate provision of consultative resources to faculty developing research proposals or conducting research including research design, statistical analysis, interpretation of data, and dissemination of results. Interpret IRB standards, admin. procedures, requirements & criteria to faculty. Assist faculty and facilitate grant production activities. Assist faculty in the dissemination of research, scholarship & science. Promote development of intellectual property. Coordinate an internal review & critique of all grant proposals submitted to an IRB and/or for external funding. Manage a faculty development plan to develop the research expertise of faculty. Collaborate with administrative team to define & implement faculty role responsibilities of teaching, research & service. Maintain a current individual program of externally funded nursing research.

Maintain multiple databases regarding local, national and international research opportunities. Develop a record of ongoing research activities, and communicate this data to faculty. Develop a plan to obtain a fund to provide "seed monies" for novice nurse researchers & coordinate intramural funding activities. Collaborate with Assoc. Deans to identify potential clinical facilities in the community which are amenable to nursing research. Identify opportunities to develop interdisciplinary research activities at the HSC. Serve on School and HSC committees.

Doctorate Degree required. Nursing or medical research field. A minimum of five years experience as a faculty in a University. Documented record of successful grant writing & research funded at the national level; Experience as reviewer at the national level or as member of a University IRB. Currently involved as P.I. with own program of research.

Preferred: Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the US & eligible for licensure in Louisiana; Documented experience as mentor of new faculty researchers & as a director of research program.
