Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid, the Associate Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid oversees all financial aid-related responsibilities and functions for the university. This individual is tasked with maintaining full compliance with federal and state laws governing financial aid, and provides leadership in establishing effective financial aid policies and procedures for the undergraduate and graduate student populations. Additionally, the associate director has a hands-on role in assisting both prospective and current students with their financial aid packages and requests. Additionally, this position manages the Senior Financial Aid Counselor and Financial Aid Advisor. Upon meeting performance expectations, it’s anticipated that the associate director will be able to transition into the director’s role within about one year as part of a succession plan.

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, minimum of three years of progressive higher education financial aid experience, and knowledge of laws that govern higher education financial assistance. Candidates must also have excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, public speaking, customer service, detail, accuracy, data extraction, statistical reporting, project management, problem-solving, and Microsoft Office skills. Also needed are abilities to multitask, meet deadlines, handle sensitive matters, use sound judgment, exhibit discretion, maintain confidentiality, and work well with students. Final candidates will be subject to criminal and credit history background checks. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree, experience with Ellucian Banner and/or Technolutions Slate, and supervisory experience.
