Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.

Career Launch Chicago is a new public-private partnership that aims to build a robust youth apprenticeship system that connects education and workforce training, launching students into high-demand careers. Career Launch seeks to align education and training between Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), while building on work-based learning systems and relationships that result in youth apprenticeship opportunities for dual-enrolled students. Through Career Launch, CPS and CCC will put in place the tools, processes and technology to support the successful onboarding, implementation, graduation, and employment for students and employers.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Director-Career Launch Chicago, the Manager- CTE Pathways manages the flow of Career and Technical Education pathways between City Colleges of Chicago and the Chicago Public Schools that align with the Chicago Roadmap objectives. This position supports the implementation of Career Launch Chicago and works closely with stakeholders and both CCC and CPS. Performs related duties as required.

Positions are required to travel on a regular basis to CPS high schools and CCC campuses. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Develops and executes a plan to manage program alignment for CTE pathways between City Colleges of Chicago and the Chicago Public Schools.
  • Develops and executes plan to manage CPS-CCC articulation agreements related to CTE pathways that includes streamlined processes and clear communication for all stakeholders.
  • Collects and evaluates data related to CTE pathways to inform Career Launch Chicago recruitment strategy, including students enrolled in pathways, success data and persistence in pathways through completion. Makes adjustments as needed based on data.
  • Leads effort to engage and involve students in work-based learning efforts aligned to Career Launch, including students in CTE pathways at CPS and CCC. Develops pipeline of students prepared for work-based learning opportunities.
  • Works as CCC partner with CPS school leadership to onboard schools in CTE pathways, including Charter and Options schools. Works collaboratively with school leadership to solve problems related to program implementation.
  • Coordinates communication to CPS through the Chicago Roadmap teams regarding new and updated CTE pathways and ensures widespread knowledge of alignment opportunities between organizations.
  • Facilitates collaborative relationships between various CCC departments and CPS partners, engaging stakeholders at all levels of both organizations as well as employer, nonprofit, philanthropic, and other work-based learning partners.
  • Works closely with District Director – Early College to onboard schools into Early College CTE pathways, in alignment with goals in the Chicago Roadmap Works closely with AVC-High School Partnerships and Director-Chicago Roadmap to fulfill objectives related to CTE pathways in the Chicago Roadmap. Offers strategic insight into process implementation and progress towards goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Four years of experience in administering educational and/or student support programs in a college or university setting, non-profit organizations, or other educational settings
  • Supervisory experience over academic support or advisor programs highly desirable
  • A valid State of Illinois driver’s license
  • Must be able to travel frequently to CPS high schools and CCC campuses
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Strong understanding of the Chicago Public School landscape
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of CCC academic programs and pathways, enrollment procedures, Early College program, transitional coursework, Star Scholarship program, and related CCC initiatives highly desirable
  • Knowledge of best practices in college and career exploration
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)


Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
