Position Summary:

CDL Wisconsin is a partnership between the Wisconsin School of Business, the School of Computer Data & Information Sciences at UW-Madison, and the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) of Toronto, Ontario. The initiative is an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage science- and technology-based companies. The program has created more than $4.2 billion in equity in less than nine years targeting companies that have the potential to transform our social, industrial, and economic landscape.

The Director of CDL Wisconsin has overall responsibility for the success of the program, The Director will plan, manage and supervise the activities of this initiative, will supervise day-to-day operations, and provide direction to the CDL staff members.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A bachelors degree is required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

7+ years of experience leading teams is required
Any number of years of project management expertise and experience managing interdisciplinary teams required

Successful candidates will also have all or some combination of the following:
-Experience leading teams through periods of rapid change and uncertainty
-Experience working in the entrepreneurship ecosystem
-Experience working as a consultant or advisor to startup companies is an asset
-Financial literacy and experience with fundraising and venture deals
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills and public speaking skills
-Strong understanding of business models and drivers of success in startups
-Experience and confidence working with senior technology executives and angel investors
-Highly motivated with a strong interest in all aspects of business development and relationship management is required
-Ability to analyze and systematically evaluate ventures; proficiency with financial modeling, conducting market analysis, and strategic planning is an asset
-Ability to lead autonomously and make decisions in environments with high ambiguity
-Successful candidates must be able to think and act strategically and deliver results without having direct authority over entities and individuals who share responsibility for these activities and who must be partners in these efforts in order to achieve successful results. This position helps facilitate the success of others, and thereby, the success of the university, state, and industry
