Positions Supervised: Manager, Information Technology Entrepreneurial Network

Job Summary

The director is responsible for providing leadership for all aspects of Duree Center and Information Technology Entrepreneurial Network (ITEN) programming and operations to include developing strong community partnerships and relationships with entrepreneurs and funders to support and grow entrepreneurial programs and the pursuit of the entrepreneurial mindset. This position collaborates with the Plaster School of Business and Entrepreneurship’s (PSBE’s) academic administrators and faculty on curriculum planning to assist students’ academic learning.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of annual strategic planning and goal setting for the organization and staff
  • Oversees all operations of ITEN, including program design and implementation, hiring and managing staff, budgeting and service/program delivery
  • Engages in membership and leadership roles for various entrepreneurship and start-up entities in the entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for public speaking engagements, media inquiries and interviews
  • Attracts traditional and non-traditional entrepreneurs to engage in university initiatives and ITEN programming, deploying a dedicated effort to increase the diversity in the volunteer and entrepreneurial community
  • Leads efforts to secure funding and/or value-added resources from economic development organizations, foundations and corporations
  • Leads efforts to secure additional Corporate Innovation Program (CIP) partners and manages key relations
  • Establishes goals and direction and provides leadership for all faculty and staff in the division and program
  • Teaches a course load as appointed by the college dean
  • Identifies, tracks and reports key performance measurements that demonstrate the Duree Center and ITEN’s impact on its community and St. Louis’ regional economy
  • Engages in recruitment and retention of students and adjunct instructors
  • Reviews requests for substitutions for course requirements
  • Coordinates new student enrollment and meets with prospective students


Service Excellence

  • Supports the mission of the university and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports and holds others accountable to the university’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity and teamwork


Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Collaborates with dean and other administrators on academic and curriculum initiatives, ensuring comprehensive contributions to program review, improvement initiatives, assessment and accreditation
  • Coordinates student enrollment and meets with prospective students
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with local, regional and national resource and support organizations that share the Duree Center and ITEN’s mission
  • Creates and fosters productive relationships with local chambers, economic development organizations, corporations and other entrepreneurship support organizations
  • Collaborates with the offices of Institutional Effectiveness and Advancement and Communications on matters related to marketing and grant writing


Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Master’s degree relevant to the subject area
  • Minimum of 10 years’ related professional experience in business development and entrepreneurial practices
  • Terminal degree preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
