Senior Director - Center for Constitutional Studies

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
The Center for Constitutional Studies at Utah Valley University is seeking a Senior Director. This role will function under the general supervision of the UVU Provost. The Senior Director, Center for Constitutional Studies (CCS) is responsible for all CCS activities. As a dynamic leader, the Senior Director is instrumental in developing the vision for CCS while also advancing established mission and initiatives, fundraising, and engaging with education, government, non-profit, and business partners. The Senior Director represents CCS both on and off campus and is responsible for enhancement of the reputation of an already well-respected center. This position will be personally involved in promoting involvement in the Quill Project, a joint effort between Pembroke College (Oxford) and CCS.

As the senior administrator at CCS, the Senior Director ensures optimal operational, personnel, and financial performance within the center. In collaboration with CCS leaders, this position strategically organizes CCS programs to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and impact. This position supports and develops CCS staff so as to realize their full potential. CCS is almost entirely funded by private donations, so this position will be a driving force behind CCS fundraising efforts—maintaining strong relationships with existing donors while also developing new donors and funding sources.

The Senior Director also collaborates with campus administrators and faculty to ensure CCS is actively contributing to UVU's institutional success. This position facilitates and supports interdisciplinary cooperation between and among departments and other centers across campus. This position advances UVU's reputation by helping to bring scholars and speakers to campus through conferences and guest lecturer series and by building the university's intellectual community. This position works to better publicize the success of UVU faculty, CCS fellows, and students.

As the leader of an academic center, the Senior Director will support and grow academic endeavors at CCS. This includes maintaining existing research projects and partnerships (the Oxford Quill Project and the Federalism Index) and pursuing opportunities for new research and scholarly publications. This position works to disseminate findings and summaries from research, policy and conference activities of CCS. As needed, this position teaches, supervises student research, and mentors CCS students. This position oversees collaboration among CCS colleagues and UVU faculty to: develop undergraduate curriculum; create a constitutional studies graduate program; and create and implement K-12 constitutional studies curriculum. When feasible, this position may develop, publish, and present original scholarly work.

The Senior Director is expected to be in residence at Utah Valley University for the duration of the appointment and may not be employed by another institution during that time.

UVU offers an excellent benefits package which includes a generous leave policy, 12 paid holidays, affordable medical and dental insurance options, life and AD&D insurance, tuition waiver (undergraduate resident) for employee and dependents and substantial employer contribution to a retirement plan.
