The Comptroller's Office at Pratt Institute is in search of an Associate Director of Budget who is solution-focused with the ability to see the big picture and implement ongoing improvement to the budget process and continuous monitoring of budgets. We are looking for a candidate to help support our vision of meeting the financial and accounting needs of a diverse and dynamic campus community with quality performance in a professional, courteous and service-oriented manner. Key Essential Duties include the following:
  • Prepare and coordinate the annual development of the Institute's all funds budget in Adaptive Budget tool.
  • Provide analyses, interpretation, assumptions, projections and presentations of financial data, including the budget submissions for the Board.
  • Monitor data collection, analysis and preparation of budget statistics, enrollment, revenue, budget and expenses to assist in preparation of the annual budget
  • Conduct monthly revenue and expense analysis for budget to actual activity and prepare financial analyses of the Institute's financial position and to make recommendations to Controller and VP for Finance. Maintain and oversee personnel roster and salary listing database.
  • Monitor all funds budget activity transfers and maintenance of automated budget expense transfers.
  • Maintain monthly reporting out of Business Objects and coordinate new processes and to recommend changes as appropriate for the improvement of reporting tools to the Institute community.
  • Serve as a resource to the Institute's departments and others in interpreting budget policies.
  • Identify areas of concern and make recommendations to alleviate any unfavorable outlook. Participate in decision-making with the Controller and VP for Finance.
  • Supervise graduate assistants and share supervisory duties for the Senior Financial Data and Business System Analyst with the Comptroller.


Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferred degree in business, accounting, finance.

Experience: Five years of experience in fiscal management and/or financial analysis required. Managerial experience preferred. Must demonstrate excellent writing skills and proficiency in PC-based financial modeling required. Must have experience working with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and Word, budgeting, query software and HCM systems.

Other: Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and work independently as necessary with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain accuracy during high demand and peak periods.

The selected candidate will work remotely 2-3 days per week, until further notice.
