The College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a Professor of Practice position in the newly-created Department of Intelligence and Security Studies. This new department is the result of a highly successful major program that has been in operation since 2012.  In that time, the program has grown to more than 300 students and has a strong placement record for our graduates. This is a one-year appointment (renewable for a second year) that begins in August 2021.

Preference will be given to applicants with broad training and practical experience in homeland security and intelligence issues, particularly with specializations related to counter-proliferation, border/transportation security, or cyber security.  The ability to offer courses in other areas such as emergency management, law enforcement intelligence, and counter-narcotics would also be of interest.

Candidates are required to have a master’s degree in a relevant field of study, as well as substantial professional experience, by the time of appointment. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the field, as well as support the continued growth and development of the Intelligence and Security Studies Department. The teaching load is 21 credit hours per academic year structured as a 4-3 load. Prior experience with distance learning would be beneficial.
