Under broad review from the Associate Dean for Professional Practice, Community Service and Advanced Nursing Practice, incumbent is responsible for the daily organization and administration of the BSN to DNP Nurse Midwifery Program of study with primary responsibility for the development, implementation and coordination of student didactic & clinical learning experiences.

Consults with the Associate Dean for Professional Practice, Community Service and Advanced Nursing Practice to develop a Nurse Midwifery Program budget that assures adequate resources to support the BSN to DNP Nurse Midwifery Program; Identifies and recommends to the Associate Dean appropriate nurse midwifery faculty for employment (Regular & Adjunct appointments); Develops student clinical experiences; Maintains student records for the Nurse Midwifery Program; Develops and maintains the academic curriculum aligned with professional nursing standards and guidelines for DNP Nurse Midwifery programs; Develops & manages the didactic, clinical & simulation instruction of the program; Develops and manages computer based instructional needs of the program; Manages the duties & responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nurse Midwifery Program; Mentors novice Faculty; Supervises the coordination of the Comprehensive Examination process; Maintains student credentials to include Nursing Licenses, Malpractice Insurance, BLS, and NRP; Prepares departmental and annual reports, and any other report or correspondence required by the AACN, LSBN, ACME or any other authoritative or regulatory body.

Ensures Nurse Midwifery students are in compliance with progression and graduation policies and procedures; Designs, plans and coordinates the BSN to DNP Nurse Midwifery Program curriculum along with the Associate Dean; Maintains the BSN to DNP Nurse Midwifery program of study in compliance with the Commission on Collegiate Nurse Education standards, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education standards, and Louisiana State Board of Nursing standards; Identifies appropriate didactic faculty for BSN to DNP Nurse Midwifery Program students; Identifies and maintains appropriate community agency affiliations; Coordinates Courses; Participates in School of Nursing Committees, especially AP&G; Develops and manages a program evaluation process.

Participates in the clinical midwifery practice to maintain clinical skills; Responsible for the assignment & evaluation of preceptors and clinical sites; Maintains involvement in professional organizations and honor societies; Develops and/or actively participates in a program of nursing research; Advises students; Mentors students on Scholarly Inquiry projects; Participates in strategic initiatives of the University and School; Communicates & coordinates program activities with Administration, Office of Student Affairs, faculty and staff as needed; Assists the Dean, Associate Dean & Department to seek extramural funding to enhance the BSN to DNP Nurse Midwifery Program and support research.

Doctorate Degree in Nursing or related field required; Master's in Nursing (concentration in nurse midwifery) or Post-masters certificate in nurse midwifery. 

Three to five years experience in a nurse midwifery program as a faculty member or administrator.
