Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a VISITING position in the CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2021.

The candidate will teach Chemical Kinetics & Thermodynamics (CHEM 335), plus four other courses relevant to their area of specialty (introductory or organic laboratory or lecture, non-majors or upper-level courses). Visiting faculty are provided professional development funds, are eligible for Kenyon grants, have access to research space, and may supervise undergraduate research students, if desired.

The Department of Chemistry, which graduates 15-20 majors annually, invests in mentoring visiting faculty through professional development and modest support for research expenses. We seek to recruit a diverse and inclusive faculty with a demonstrated commitment to excellent teaching. The cover letter and teaching statement should describe how they will promote a culturally and intellectually diverse and inclusive educational environment. Competitive applications will show specific examples of past accomplishments and prospective ideas.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree or expect completion by the start of their appointment. A complete application will be composed of 1) a cover letter; 2) a 2-page statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy; 3) a Curriculum Vitae; 4) an unofficial transcript; and 5) contact information for three professional references who will provide letters of recommendation upon request. Applicants may, but need not, include a brief research statement.
