  • Associates degree with four years of specialized or technical training in building trades including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry;

Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

• Supervisory Experience
• Ability to Read Construction Documents, Plans, and Blueprints
• Construction Project Management

Work Hours

Normally scheduled Monday through Thursday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.

This is the fourth level in the Facility Maintenance series. Incumbents supervise custodial, ground, maintenance and construction work and personnel for assigned campus. Major duties and responsibilities include: supervising, evaluating, and coordinating work of subordinate staff; overseeing all maintenance and construction activities at an assigned campus; determining schedules and priorities; overseeing assigned budget; determining maintenance, repair and construction needs; ordering and maintaining supplies, parts, and equipment; ensuring compliance with guidelines related to energy consumption and safety procedures.

Typical Essential Duties

Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; preparing work schedules; conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
Oversees maintenance and construction activities at an assigned campus; work may involve scheduling preventative maintenance repairs, preparing plans, and ensuring that staff follow applicable policies and procedures.
Manages an assigned budget, to include monitoring expenditures, assessing maintenance/construction needs, and preparing budget estimates.
Responds to work requests, and determines and prioritizes maintenance, repair, and construction needs; ensures compliance with guidelines related to energy consumption and safety procedures.
Orders supplies, parts, and equipment, and ensures that equipment and vehicles are maintained and used in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; extreme temperatures; inadequate lighting; work space-related movement restrictions; and intense noise.
