Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and the Division of Hematology/Oncology and Palliative Medicine, Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin is seeking applicants for a full-time professor, associate or assistant level medical oncologist with an interest in clinical and translational research in gastrointestinal malignancy to join our faculty. This position would be active in multi-disciplinary GI oncology programs including pancreas, liver, colorectal, esophagus, and precision medicine, with a focus in a designated disease/organ of interest.

Principal Duties:

The successful candidate would provide direct patient care, lead dedicated disease-specific research staff and have access to substantial programmatic research funds. Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 16 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office. Over 70 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our two UWCCC clinical sites.

Faculty and staff of the Department of Medicine value professionalism, patient-centeredness, compassion, respect, innovation, discovery, inclusion, diversity, teamwork, scholarship and stewardship. Duties include approximately 25% direct patient care at UW Health's main campus, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service attending; proactively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants; 75% protected time to develop a research or education program and to engage in related scholarly activity. Leadership positions in the division and/or UWCCC may be available to appropriate candidates.

The Division of Hematology/Oncology is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer therapy development and evaluation.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD, DO or MD/PhD; Must be Board prepared or eligible in Medical Oncology or dual boarded in Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

*Clinical and research interest in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies
*Completion of an accredited fellowship training program in medical oncology with significant clinical trial experience preferred.
*Candidates for associate or full professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines.

License or Certificate:

Eligible for Wisconsin medical license

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
