Job Details

The Lacy School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position in economics at the assistant-professor level beginning fall 2021, subject to final budgetary approval. We seek a macroeconomist with a commitment to excellent teaching, potential for high-quality scholarship, and a willingness to contribute to a college that values experiential learning. In addition to teaching core principle and intermediate macroeconomic classes, we particularly welcome those who might contribute upper-level macroeconomic electives, such as Money & Banking and International Macroeconomics. A Ph.D. or its imminent completion is required.

Applications should include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness, statement of experience with and commitment to teaching a diverse student body, and the contact information of three current references. We seek candidates whose research, teaching and/or service has prepared them to contribute to engagement with and inclusion of culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and intercultural development in an educational and work environment and will be willing to contribute to building an inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.

The economists are housed in the Lacy School of Business. Students in the business school can earn a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Fully accredited by AACSB-International, the Lacy School of Business enrolls over 1100 full-time undergraduates and nearly 250 part-time MBA students. In addition, it has a Master of Management, a Master of Professional Accounting program and a Master of Risk and Insurance program. Butler provides personalized liberal and professional education to 4,400 undergraduate and 500 graduate students in its six colleges.

Butler University

With just over 5,000 students, we’re relatively small as far as universities go. That’s a good thing—it means classes are more personally engaging and professors are always available to help.

But in terms of opportunity, Butler University is about as big as it gets. Indianapolis is one of the largest and most dynamic cities in the Midwest. As residents, Butler students can plug right into the real-world through internships, co-ops, undergraduate research, public performances, and community partnerships. These experiences provide working knowledge and skills that students need to excel after college.

A career at Butler University means so much more than a job.  Join the dedicated, innovative, and supportive community of faculty and staff that is moving Butler Beyond.
