Position Details
Wesleyan University’s Music Department invites applicants for a one-year, full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor in the area of Music Theory beginning September 1, 2021. The field of specialization is open, with a preference for music theoretical research grounded in historical or ethnographic methods. Interests that cross disciplinary boundaries are welcome, as are additional fields of expertise. Teaching will include undergraduate courses in both theory and music history and an introductory graduate research seminar. The position carries a 3/2 teaching load
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in music or related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as a Visiting Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as a Visiting Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in music or related field in hand at the time of appointment but will complete it within one year of hire.
