Position Summary

The Senior Analyst for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP@CSCC), identifies and manages new manufacturing partners and service providers throughout the identified Ohio territories. The analyst acts as a resource to help clients find solutions to their operational improvement challenges. This position utilizes concepts associated with LEAN, 6-Sigma, Quality Control Principles, ISO, and IATF to address the business improvement needs of clients and has expertise in emerging technologies and markets. This position provides support to clients through effective project proposal development and execution. This position contributes as a member of MEP@CSCC; represents institution within the state of Ohio manufacturing industry and provides reports and other client-related metrics as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Client Management

Identifies potential business operations improvement partners. Meets with clients to explore current needs; conducts needs analysis for each client.
Utilizes knowledge of emerging manufacturing technologies and markets to meet unique needs of clients and business sectors. Provides project management services for business operations improvement projects.

Prepares project proposals with input from client and identified service providers. Assist clients in designing or improving existing manufacturing processes or facilities. Conduct follow-up sessions with clients to ensure that the project results are sustainable.

Business Analytics

Utilizes principles of LEAN, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence to guide work processes. Designs and creates effective written reports, to include visual/graphical presentation of data through interactive charts, dashboards, etc., as appropriate for a client. Conducts periodic surveys for reporting requirements and monitoring of project effectiveness. Prepares required state and institutional reports in a timely manner. Assists clients in achieving results that are measurable. Organizes and presents research-based information, analysis and interpretation clearly and effectively, in narrative, graphical and oral modes.

Training and Development

Provides training, support, and resources for business operations improvement to clients and members of the college community, as appropriate. Participates in professional development activities, in-campus meetings, and serves on committees, as required.

Physical Requirements

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly stands and walks for extended periods of time, and occasionally sits.

Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Employee occasionally reaches with hands or arms, climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 25 pounds when moving files, boxes and other materials. With multiple conference spaces as well as meetings across the campus, employee regularly walks outside to other buildings.

Working Conditions

Typical office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to manufacturing environments. Must travel to various Columbus State campuses and customer sites.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of : LEAN, 6-Sigma, Quality Control Principles, ISO, IATF, Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence methods; operations and basic manufacturing technologies; knowledge of automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, motion control and electrical/control systems desired; analytical thinking; technical writing and reporting; Computers, software, including cloud applications, to include Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Skill in : writing and presenting for both research and general user communities; improving manufacturing processes for new or existing product lines; project execution techniques; software such as, Excel, PowerPivot, SharePoint BI Suite; proficiency survey techniques; customer service; conflict resolution; general typing; application of job software programs.

Ability to : analyze and present institutional data results and analyses in electronic, web, graphical, presentation, or written formats; exhibit creativity in applying operations improvement strategies; effectively communicate research in oral, written, and graphic form; excellent listening skills and participant in collaborative work; develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the College; effectively work with persons of varying cultures and diversity; problem solve effectively.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Social Sciences, Higher Education, Business Systems, Information Technology, Statistics, Research or a closely related field of study.
Five (5) years of professional experience in analysis and research or equivalent combination of education and experience. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s). *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
