Academic Advisor- Ottumwa

Buena Vista University has an opening for an Academic Advisor located on the Indian Hills Community College campus in Ottumwa. This position works to recruit and retain students through excellent student service, close attention to detail, and by building strong relationships.

Qualified applicants must have a service-directed attitude and able to work with a variety of internal and external constituents. This position is responsible for promoting BVU in the community, attending events, retention of current and stop-out students, maintenance of student and departmental records, and advising students from the point of application through graduation on their program of study and career and graduate school opportunities.

Typical hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30am-5:00pm; Thursday 9:30am-6:00pm or 12:00pm-8:30pm. Occasional travel and valid driver’s license are required. A bachelor's degree is required, and one to three years of higher education experience is preferred.
