Position Title Director of Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT) Overview

Direct a program that holistically prepares and supports students with baccalaureate degrees to serve as beginning Catholic educators in PK-12 classrooms while working toward eligibility for initial teacher licensure or an additional credential. Preparation and support includes completing a Master’s degree, being supervised and coached in teaching, living in intentional communities, and growing in one’s spirituality.

Essential Duties:

1. Develop and implement Master’s in Education Program for Secondary Education that is consistent with the College, Graduate School, and PACT mission and meets the program approval requirements of the Rhode Department of Education ( RIDE ); recruit and recommend faculty for courses in program to the Dean of Graduate Programs; and schedule courses and field experiences. Direct, plan, and lead supervision and coaching for all PACT teachers in their placement schools, to be conducted 2-3 times per semester per teacher.

2. Direct day-to-day and programming activities, prepare and implement approved annual operating budget, supervise Assistant Director and Administrative Assistant. Partner with University Consortium for Catholic Education ( UCCE ) program directors to support broader recruitment, placement, and support of candidates; manage student records, including in-processing, academic and state/federal date requirements; direct all aspects of Summer Program; and evaluate spiritual, community and academic components of program and adjust as needed. Address any academic problems that may occur in partner schools or in community housing.

3. Direct recruitment efforts, execute supporting marketing/promotional efforts, oversee candidate review and selection process, and coordinate partner diocesan school placements. Serve as principal liaison with superintendents and principals, organize initial school/student orientation events, coordinate student community living requirements, and coordinate student outreach (i.e. academic, spiritual, and social field visitations).

4. Director and manage event planning for opening and mid-year retreats, summer activities, missioning mass, etc.; serve as liaison between Chaplain’s office and spiritual mentors in the field; and work with the Chaplain’s office on programming for all spiritual activities.

5. Build strategic partnerships with partner Catholic (arch)diocesan superintendents, principals, and alumni to support Catholic education efforts. These efforts may include professional development, additional training, keynotes, or other events hosted at the College, pursuing new degree or certificate options, or other consulting or research initiatives.

6. Manage and curate PACT program website and social media. Oversee the Assistant Director’s role in curating and posting content.

Marginal Duties:

1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required

• Master Degree from an accredited institution required. Doctoral degree preferred.

• Five to seven years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• PK-12 teaching experience sufficient to be able to provide appropriate guidance to beginning Catholic schools teacher.

• PK-12 school administrative experience sufficient to be able to interact effectively with Catholic school and diocesan administrators.

• Prior college-level teaching and graduate program administration experience preferred.

• Highly organized, team player with excellent leadership, organizational, and management skills

• Must communicate effectively with multiple audiences/stakeholders.
