Position Director, Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research Full Time/Part Time Full Time Job Type Regular Position Summary

The Director is responsible for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data related to all aspects of the university’s mission, as needed for institutional planning, decision-making, policy formation, assessment, and reporting. This individual will support all activities related to university accreditation processes, outcomes assessment programs, and implementation and evaluation of the university’s strategic plan. The Director is also expected to make data-informed recommendations regarding university policy and planning decisions. This position is based on the main campus in Las Vegas, NM

Duties and Responsibilities

· Direct all activities and responsibilities of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research;

· Develops and leads a comprehensive institutional research program to support the university’s mission and strategic initiatives;

· Establishes and sets the directions for the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research as well as providing hands-on data analysis, interpretation of analysis, and preparation of reports for both internal and external use and distribution;

· Translates data into usable information for the university community;

· Provides information and analytic support to the university’s administrative decision makers in order to facilitate strategic planning, policy-making, resource allocations, enrollment projects, and other processes requiring sound strategic analysis;

· Ensure collaboration with and service to statewide/regional institutional research entities and the Coucil of University Presidents ( CUP );

· Provides data-informed recommendations regarding University policy and planning decisions;

· Ensure accurate and timely reporting to federal and state entities including IPEDS, NM Higher Education Department ( NMHED ) and the NM Legislative Finance Committee ( LFC );

· Monitor compliance with university accreditation requirements, as necessary, and support accreditation reporting;

· Work with faculty and administration to develop and implement an effective system for assessing student learning at the university to include service on the university’s Outcomes Assessment Committee;

· Provide annual reports of assessment results for review by constituents of the university including external accrediting agencies;

· Work with faculty, staff and administration to develop and implement a process for evaluating and modifying the university’s strategic plan;

· Ensure fulfillment of requests for data and data analysis from campus entities;

· Work independently to design and conduct special studies and produce data;

· Consult with the President and the Executive Management Team to set priorities and to determine the need for special studies and analyses;

· Performs other related duties as assigned;

· Maintain regular attendance.

Minimum Job Requirements

· Master’s degree in any field.

· Five or more years’ experience working in a higher education environment in a role requiring use and/production of university reports and statistics (i.e., applying complex statistical and research methods);

· Experience supporting special or regional accreditation processes;

· Knowledge of and familiarity with higher education enterprise data systems (e.g. Banner) and the ability to extract data and translate into useful academic reports;

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s or Doctoral degree with emphasis in research and evaluation preferred;

· Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis package such as SPSS, SAS, R, etc.

· Demonstrated ability to clearly organize, analyze, and communicate institutional data to diverse campus constituencies;

· Strong interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships;

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;

· Ability to maintain confidentiality;

· Skill with data visualization software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau), and National Clearinghouse services;

· Demonstrated ability to use the Web to distribute data to end-users and work collaboratively across campus;

· Knowledge of special and regional accreditation processes;

· Knowledge of and familiarity with higher education enterprise data systems (e.g. Banner) and the ability to extract data and translate into useful academic reports;

· Skill with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).

· Ability to establish a close working relationship with the Office of the President and Executive Management Team for individual projects;

· Ability to follow general instruction;

· Ability to design and implement a diverse range of research projects, including data analysis and interpretation;

· Knowledge of, and experience with comprehensive outcomes assessment programs;

· Knowledge of, and experience with strategic planning and processes;

· Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues as related to institutional research;

· Ability to work independently;

· Skill in supervising staff.

Physical Demands

· Limited exposure to physical risk.

· Limited physical effort required.

Working Environment

· Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
