Position Summary:
An Agriculture Technician performs a variety of tasks to support the Meadowbrook Farm agricultural science program and the multiple enterprises managed by EKU Farms. The position is responsible for more technical or complex tasks such as, but not limited to: agriculture laboratory procedures using a variety of laboratory equipment for field study, stock experiments, preparation of samples for laboratory analysis, maintenance of production experiments records, maintenance and operation of farm equipment, documents crop and weather conditions and recommends timing for planting, cultivation, and harvesting, and is responsible for more complex animal husbandry duties, such as overseeing animal birthing/delivery and handling semen collection/breeding. The Agriculture Technician may also train other staff members on farm related tasks and is expected to work in various climates both inside and/or outside.


Minimum Education:
Certification or graduation from a 4 year college or university.


Minimum Experience:
Three years of work experience. Experience in animal and/or crop production preferred.


Minimum Licensure and Certification:
Must possess a valid Kentucky Drivers License.

Job Functions:
Performs various activities in support of the Meadowbrook Farm including but not limited to: livestock breeding (artificial insemination), cropping, feeding, livestock care and handling, and milking.
Lead and assist in the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, buildings, fences, and general grounds upkeep.
Assist with field labs associated with departments on or around campus to support the academic affairs for the University and ensure the proper maintenance and storage of experiment records.
Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned.
