Primary Purpose of Position:
The Director of Advancement Services has primary responsibility for leading and managing all functions in the Office of Advancement Services that are essential to the effective and efficient execution of the institution's fundraising and alumni relations efforts. Those functions include gift processing and receipting, development database management and reporting, donor records management, and prospect research/moves management. This position supports the creation and dissemination of a full range of reports and information to support the overall effort of fundraising and alumni engagement goals by ensuring that gift and biographical data are entered consistently, accurately, and in accordance with Federal and State laws, CASE Management and Report Standards, and best practices.


Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of eight years of experience as an advancement services professional, overseeing information systems, prospect research, donor
relations/stewardship, and an enterprise database.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have demonstrated ability to apply strategic focus while effectively managing daily operations and implementing change. The successful candidate should be data driven in making decisions, have strong analytic skills, and be able to build strong customer-centered teams. Candidate should be a self-starter and motivator with strong leadership and planning skills as a self-starter. Must also have excellent interpersonal skills. Must have excellent operational and technical skills and a proven track record of customer based service.

Additional Preferred/Desired Qualifications include familiarity and understanding of IRS regulations regarding tax issues and CASE standards for reporting; technical experience with relational databases and reporting tool; proven leadership skills to inspire confidence as well as to motivate others; experience in a higher education setting; demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement development programs of complexity, including the ability to envision and articulate future direction; demonstrated ability to plan strategically in all aspects of fundraising; excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate fundraisers’ functional needs into technical output.
